Storie di Donne Samurai at Tenoha, designed and curated by Laura Micalizzi, is a sensory and immersive journey inspired by Benjamin Lacombe's book, with texts by Sébastien Perez, published in Italy by L'Ippocampo Edizioni.

The Exhibition

Through a immersive multisensory journey, discover that the code of noble samurai also belonged to Japanese female warriors, the fearless onna-bugeisha.
Inspired by Benjamin Lacombe's book published by l'Ippocampo, the exhibition unveils stories of women warriors, ready to sacrifice and wield their power with pride and weapons to change their destiny and reclaim their freedom. Defying societal norms of their time, these women became symbols of hope, though their stories remain largely unknown.
The exhibition unfolds as a sensory experience, enriched by the illustrations of the French artist and the display of original armors and Katana. Spanning across 1,100 square meters, a replica of a Japanese temple reigns over the exhibition. The immersive journey through sensory rooms, with animations, audio, scents, and scenography, aims to evoke atmospheres and sensations inspired by three stories from the book.
